To make our Hawaiian Island Wall Art we use a lightweight, high strength concrete mix which has been salvaged from over-pours on other work we create.
We recycle this concrete mix into custom molds which allow the release of our castings quite easily. When we first create the individual islands, until they cure, they are fragile and must be handled carefully. However, if you have concrete in or around your home, you know that once it dries and cures, it becomes very strong.
Once the castings are completely cured we apply a two part epoxy coating with pigment suspended in the mix. This gives the pieces an extremely durable and beautiful translucent finish. We finish the sets in either an emerald and copper finish, or a rubbed bronze and copper finish.

Specifications
Many customers are surprised to learn our castings are larger in real life than they appear in photos. When all the pieces of the Hawaii Island chain are laid out to scale, the set covers an area 104″ wide by 61″ high. “The Big Island” by itself measures 23.5″ X 21.5 “.
Other DCC Products
Some of the other items we make are 21″ Sand Dollar stepping stones, and 22″ Starfish stepping stones, as well as replacement concrete stair treads in almost any size for those who need them. We stock all of these items in our facility in Vero Beach. Since we are casting something amazing almost every day, we always have leftover concrete available to create Hawaiian Island Wall Art instead of filling local landfills.
